25 things about galen

1) I hate TV. But love movies. And watching certain TV shows if I can get whole seasons at a time and binge on multiple episodes a night for days on end. Some of my favs: X-Files, The Office, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Big Love.

2) I'm not very adventurous; I have my routines that are comfortable and familiar and I stick to them and get all keyed up over alterations to the familiar.

3) My latest thing is speed bag. I find it very theraputic to beat the hell out of it and I think I am getting pretty good. I also think I have tweeked the rotator cuff in my left shoulder and should probably take it a bit easier. Damn.

4) I am unable to lie (a little different than sometimes fudging the details). I can clam up (and frequently do), but am unable to make stuff up. (I also can't fake an orgasm.)

5) The part of my brain in charge of remembering names doesn't work very well. Neither do the parts in charge of math or spelling. This is embarrassing and highly inconvenient.

6) sharpened pencils excite me. I also love rusty stuff, aged stuff, blank pages, old paper and fabric, wax, random found objects, thread, empty boxes and empty bottles, circles, the warm spectrum of the color wheel, the cool spectrum of the color wheel, children's art, outsider art, stains made by moisture, light coming in from windows, dusk, sharp objects, birds and other flying things.

7 ) I don't like Thomas Kinkade. Or Greg Olsen. Etc...

8) My house is very dull looking. I have put very little time and energy into any sort of "home decorating." I consider my self a fairly creative person but it just doesn't manifest it's self in my home's appearance at all.

9) My house is always cluttered, sometimes downright dirty (occasionally bordering on filthy?)

10) I keep a journal. Obsessively.

11) I love to read. I used to read a lot. But now I find myself easily distracted or bored while reading. This scares me.

12) I hate spending money.

13) I have a crush on both the UPS man and the FED-EX man who make deliveries to my work every day. (UPS man is clean-cut GQ guy, and FED-EX man is long-haired scruffy guy.)

14) I know how to play one song on the guitar. someday I will add another song to the list.

15) I answer my cell phone when I am driving, but don't tell melanie franti. she will hate me forever.

16) I have an aversion to talking on the phone, but I have friends helping me overcome that.

17) I constantly think about getting a tattoo but really think I may never.

18) I wished we lived somewhere we could walk or bike to most of our daily obligations. Our current driving situation is driving me nuts.

19) I'm the oldest of 8 children. the youngest is 22 years younger than me. Four girls four boys, four brunettes four blonds (tho the blonds tend to darken as adults).

20) Growing up we moved every 2 to 4 years (and I sort of kept that tradition on my own after). Az, Co, NJ, Wa, UT, (sometimes back and forth a couple times). My favorite place was Redmond Washington.

21) I'm a difficult person to be friends with. I have funks. I get morose and withdrawn. Thanks guys, for hanging in there. I love my friends.

22) I obsess about age and aging a lot.

23) I'm shy, and frequently uncomfortable about meeting new people or going into group settings. But always glad when I do.

24) Making dinner is one of my least favorite times; I hate trying to figure out what to make for dinner. Sometimes I go through cooking/baking phases where I really get into making yummy food... but usually it is just drudgery. I dislike grocery shopping too. I can spend a hundred dollars at the grocery store and come home and still not know what to make for dinner.

25) Hubby is much better with kids than me. But son loves me anyways.
