Cross Country Classic 2009

Yesterday we went as a family to the Lincoln park Cross Country Classic 5k run. Abel and Max cheered as Galen ran the 5k (a rather grueling hilly sandy rocky route) and she broke her personal record for this race. (Still pretty slow, but hey, Yay!)
Then we pigged out at the potluck, watched (but did not participate in) the egg toss (yep- messy) and max ran in the kids race .

Yay for community athletic events!!!

YAY!!! I didn't Die!!!

Whew!
Tonight I ran a race, and just to let everyone know, I DIDN'T DIE! In fact, I felt amazingly good cruising along at a slow but steady pace (seriously slow, 11 to 12 min miles) I barely broke a sweat and was hardly out of breath at all (except twice when the hills got pretty steep). Which makes me think I probably could have pushed myself a tiny bit harder. Maybe that will be my goal for next time. for now, it was just really really really satisfying to know that I could go out and run 7.4 miles. Wow.
Okay, just had to let you know. Now I'm going to take a hot bath. :)
